Executive profiles

  • Rob Devey has been an Executive Director of Prudential plc and Chief Executive, Prudential UK and Europe since November 2009. Rob joined Prudential from Lloyds Banking Group where he worked from 2002 in a number of senior leadership roles across insurance and retail banking. Prior to joining Lloyds Banking Group, Rob was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in the UK, US and Europe.

    Rob chairs the London Leadership Team of Business In The Community and is also a Trustee of the LloydsTSB Foundation for England and Wales.

  • Andy was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive in April 2010, having been Managing Director, Finance UK & Europe Insurance Operations since April 2007.

    Andy is a chartered accountant with over 20 years in financial services.

    He was previously Group Chief Risk Officer from September 2005 to March 2007 at Prudential plc and Director, Group Finance and Risk at Prudential plc from 2000.

    Prior to joining Prudential, Andy was Group Financial Controller at Legal and General Group plc, Deputy Group Financial Controller of Lloyds Bank plc and was originally with Metal Box plc. He trained as an accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells.

  • Barry O'Dwyer was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in April 2010, having been Managing Director of Prudential UK & Europe's Retail Life and Pensions business since January 2009. He has functional responsibility for distribution, products and marketing.

    Barry joined in January 2009 from HBOS Financial Services where he was Products and Marketing Director. He began his financial services career at Standard Life where he trained as an actuary and during 19 years with the company he held a number of senior management positions in both the UK and Ireland, latterly as Managing Director, Marketing.

    Barry chairs Prudential's Community and Financial Education Committee. He lives near Edinburgh and is a director of Arts & Business Scotland, a charity which facilitates creative collaborations between companies and arts organisations.

  • Cathy Lewis was appointed HR Director - UK & Europe on 30 November 2009.

    Cathy was Chief People Officer at HM Revenue & Customs from November 2008 - November 2009 and Executive HR Director at Cooperative Financial Services from 2006 - 2008.

    Cathy's previous roles include HR Director for Abbey, BAA plc and Lillywhites Ltd.

    Cathy also sits on Prudential Group's Responsibility Committee.

  • Tulsi was appointed to the Executive Committee as Operations Director in January 2010 with responsibility for Customer Service, Information Technology and Business Change. Tulsi is also responsible for Prudential's India captive BPO organisation, PPMS.

    Tulsi joined Prudential in February 2002 in Corporate Development where she worked on a variety of strategic projects including bulk acquisitions from other insurers. She has since held a number of senior management roles within Prudential including Director of Mature Life and Pensions, Direct Distribution Director and Corporate Pensions Director.

    Tulsi has previously worked with CSFB, Arthur Andersen and ICICI Bank. She holds an MBA and a BA in Mathematics.

  • David Belsham has been the Actuarial Function Holder/Appointed Actuary of Prudential plc's UK life assurance companies since 1998.

    In this role, David's responsibility is to ensure that Prudential UK's long term insurance business is operated on sound financial lines and with regard to policyholders' reasonable expectations.

    David joined Prudential as an Actuarial trainee in 1983, and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1988. He has worked in a wide range of Actuarial functions covering valuation, systems development, product development, general insurance, management reporting, and mergers and acquisitions. David was Chief Actuary of the company's direct sales force division from 1992 to 1995, and has been Chief Actuary of the UK division since 1995.

  • John has been the Director of Investments at Prudential's Portfolio Management Group since 2001.

    John is responsible for the broad investment strategy for Prudential's large multi asset funds such as the with-profits and annuities funds and more specifically the investments in alternative assets such as hedge funds and private equity. He also make sure a robust performance and risk monitoring process is in place for both internal and external asset managers.

    John joined Prudential in 1982 and has been in a number of investment roles covering equity and economic research and asset allocation.

    John is married with two children and lives in Hampshire.

  • Marcia joined Prudential in June 2009 as Chief Risk Officer with overall responsibility for enterprise risk management covering financial and non-financial risks for UK & Europe.

    Prior to Prudential, she was President & CEO of the European Mortgage Insurance business for Genworth Financial. Marcia spent nearly 16 years at GE Capital where she held senior management roles in risk management, product management, capital markets and insurance including as CEO of a US based employee benefits insurance business selling life, disability, and medical insurance. Marcia began her career at Mellon Bank where she was trained in credit and cash management and held senior corporate banking and credit risk management positions before joining GE Capital in 1989.

  • Guy Dunlop has been Head of UKIO Legal & Company Secretariat since November 2010. He joined Prudential from the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Prior to that he worked for Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance and Clifford Chance LLP, where he was a senior associate. At both Freshfields and Clifford Chance, Guy specialised in corporate insurance M&A transactional work and latterly more regulatory advisory work, particularly in the life sector.

    Guy is admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales and as an Attorney in South Africa. Guy trained in South Africa before relocating to London in 1999 to join Clifford Chance.
