The internet could positively impact upon the lifestyles of UK pension holders, it has been highlighted.
According to the Age Concern and Help the Aged Charity Director Michelle Mitchell, the web is not restricted to young members of society.
"All too often, the internet is seen as something exclusively for young people but in fact it has something for everyone and can make a genuine difference to the lives of older people," she commented.
Her remarks follow the Internet Champions initiative launched by Ms Mitchell's organisations, which aims to raise awareness of how useful the web can be to pension holders.
It has been confirmed that Frederick Briggs and Lucy Berry are to act as this year's champions, as part of the scheme which has also received the backing of BT.
Meanwhile, Age Concern and Help the Aged have recently highlighted the age discrimination that some pension holders may have to put up with in relation to insurance cover.
