Shopping around for annuities could prove a very useful option for those seeking such products in the near future, according to one firm.

A feature which appears on the Hargreaves Lansdown website has reported on the decisions that will need to be made if people are hoping to enter retirement before the pension age goes up in April.

While noting that annuities may not always prove to be a popular choice for younger retirees, the organisation's article has pointed out the benefits that shopping around could lead to.

It has stated: "You can get up to 30% more income by shopping around for your annuity rather than simply taking the one offered by your pension provider."

The importance of taking the time to search for a good annuity was also recently emphasised by Rockingham Retirement.

Laura Goodman, Director of Corporate Communications at the firm, noted that poor value is currently being offered by some annuity products.
