A number of UK drivers may be 'fronting' their motor insurance policies, according to new figures.

As many as one in five of those queried in a recent survey from the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) and Aviva are said to have fronted their policies by naming a different person to a vehicle's main driver on an insurance policy.

MIB's Chief Executive Ashton West believes that some consumers may not be aware of just how vital it is to submit correct insurance details.

The expert added: "There is a need to help drivers understand and appreciate the importance of being adequately insured."

MIB suggests that people may adopt fronting practices to try and save money on their car insurance.

Meanwhile, M&S Car Insurance has recently alerted road users to the risks that they may face if they do not quickly learn to get to grips with the features of new cars.
