The Pensions Regulator has published new guidance related to multi-employer pension schemes, it has been announced.
According to the organisation, the documentation is designed to improve understanding of the support that employers provide in the pension plans, as well as how to manage the departure of such bodies.
Called Defined Benefit Multi-Employer Schemes and Employer Departures: Guidance for Trustees, it is accompanied by two new e-learning modules.
Bill Galvin, the Acting Chief Executive of the Pensions Regulator, said it was "crucial" for trustees to understand their role after the departure of an employer.
He added: "Our draft guidance also reinforces the importance of ensuring that the strength of the employer covenant is regularly reviewed and maintained throughout the scheme's life."
The launch of the guidance has come after the Pensions Regulator also published materials designed to help trustees assess and monitor action that may need to be taken in relation to employer support.
