Savers could have more money to contribute to their pensions pot if they take advantage of the PruHealth Vitality wellness programme launched today (January 24th).
Under the scheme, subscribers have the opportunity to receive discounts on health promoting activities, such as gym membership, while saving up to £1,355 for those on its lowest bronze Vitality status.
Through the Vitality points system, savers can earn up to 20% of their premiums in cash back, with average annual premiums costing £898.
Chief Executive Officer of PruHealth Neville Koopowitz said: “We enable you to earn Vitality points for doing healthy activities.
“The more you look after yourself, the bigger the benefits and discounts.”
He added that these can amount to more than the cost of private medical insurance premiums.
When asked how they would spend £1,000 in savings, 25% of respondents said they would take a holiday, while 14% would use the money to offset debt.
Yesterday, the Bank of Scotland revealed savers in rural parts of the country had an average £8,805 in savings, compared to city dwellers with an average of £6,846.
