Uninsured drivers no longer a threat to lawful drivers with Prudential car insurance

With help from the Motor Insurance Database, the police are able to make an instant check on whether a car has insurance and are focusing their attention on this specific problem on UK roads. As a result of this initiative the police have seized over 185,000 cars and vans in recent months and have prosecuted more than 300,000 drivers for driving without motor insurance.

While these statistics show that the latest legal crackdown on uninsured drivers is making a difference in the number of unlawful drivers on UK roads, there is still a very real threat of being hit by an uninsured driver.

While your insurance may pay out for your damage, you will in all likelihood lose your No Claims Discount and have to pay the excess on the damage too.

Prudential realises this is not fair to paid-up insured drivers, and has come up with an addition to their comprehensive car insurance plan. Prudential now has an 'uninsured driver promise', which exists to ensure that Prudential policy holders won't lose their no-claims discount if an accident was caused by an uninsured driver (comprehensive policies only).

If you are in an accident with an uninsured driver and you can provide the vehicle registration number, and make and model of the uninsured car, and also the driver's details, then once Prudential has confirmed that the accident was the fault of the uninsured driver, we will reimburse your excess and preserve your no-claims discount.

So isn't it good to know that while the police are lowering the risks of being in an accident with an uninsured driver, UK car insurance experts Prudential have taken the last bit of worry out of the equation, leaving you to drive safe in the knowledge that you are fully insured.
