Types of Prudential Travel Insurance

Travel insurance

The number of times a year you travel and the nature of your trips, will determine which type of cover is best for you.

Single trip travel insurance

This provides you with cover for one trip or holiday, and is ideal if you are only going to be making one or two trips a year. This way you are not paying for days when you'll not be away on holiday.

Trips of one to 90 days duration can be covered from as little as £11.70.

There is no upper age limit for customers buying single trip travel insurance.

Annual multi-trip travel insurance

If you're making more than three trips in a year then this level of cover is perfect for you. You'll receive cover for an unlimited number of trips within a 12 month period. This type of policy is particularly beneficial if you have to make unscheduled trips or if you like to take advantage of last minute getaways.

Our annual multi-trip travel insurance covers you for an unlimited number of trips within your chosen geographical region - Europe or worldwide. The maximum duration for each single trip is 31 days and trips within the UK must involve an overnight stay.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide annual multi-trip travel insurance to customers aged 75 or over.

Long Trip travel insurance

This is the option that gives you the freedom to travel for a long time. Choose the European option and you get cover for up to 365 days; choose Worldwide and you get cover for up to 550 days.

Long Trip travel insurance can also cover you if you are thinking of working abroad. This includes cover for a temporary work placement of up to 90 days, providing these jobs are not manual (construction work, for example), and do not involve the care of children or the use of machinery. So while we can't offer you cover if you want to nanny for a year, we can insure you for bar work or fruit-picking jobs for up to three months - great ways to meet people while away on a gap year and finance your trip while away.

Winter sports travel insurance

Snowboarding and skiing can be great fun - but they can be extremely dangerous too. The increased risk is why many basic travel insurance policies exclude these activities.

Our winter sports cover can be added to your single or multi-trip travel insurance at an additional cost. It is for recreational skiing and snowboarding in recognised resort areas that have marked pistes or runs designed for public use. Within these recognised areas, you will be covered for 'off-piste' skiing provided that you are accompanied by a qualified instructor, and that the area is not marked as out of bounds or hazardous.

To add winter sports cover to your travel insurance, simply complete an online quotation and select the 'winter sport' option from the dropdown list provided.

Or if you'd prefer to speak to a consultant, phone our UK call centre on 0800 300 300. Lines are open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

European travel insurance

If you'll be travelling within the UK or Europe, you can take out a European travel insurance policy. (A worldwide travel insurance policy is likely to cost more and is not necessary if you'll be staying within the confines of Europe.)

Countries included under this policy:
United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Mediterranean Islands, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Madeira, Canary Islands, the Azores, the Republic of Ireland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

Worldwide travel insurance

If you'll be travelling outside of the UK and Europe (as listed above) you'll need to take out worldwide travel insurance to ensure that you have adequate cover for the countries that you are visiting.

Our travel insurance policies are available for singles, couples and families.

Family travel insurance
It may be cheaper to take out a family travel insurance policy instead of arranging cover for each family member. This option will also save you time. Both single trip and annual multi trip insurance can be taken out for families.

A family is classified as up to two adults aged 18 to 74 and up to four children aged under 18, permanently living together.

Single parent family travel insurance
If you're travelling as a single parent with your child/children, this policy could work out as the cheapest and easiest option for you.

A single parent family is classified as one adult aged 18 to 74 and up to four children aged under 18, permanently living together.

Couple travel insurance
If you're travelling as a couple it may be cheaper for you to take out a joint policy rather than individual policies.

A couple is classified as two adults aged 18 to 74, permanently living together.

Please note: There is no maximum age limit for adults on single trip policies.
