The Flexible Investment Plan is a single premium investment bond that lets you invest your money in a range of different funds. The plan aims to increase the value of your investment over the medium to long term.

You start your plan with a single payment. You can also make additional payments at any time. You can make regular and partial withdrawals, and you can cash in your plan at any time.

The Flexible Investment Plan also provides a small amount of life cover.

Please note that the value of your fund may fluctuate and you may not get back your original investment.

  • Flexible options for withdrawing moneyYou can take regular or partial withdrawals from your bond at any time. You can set the amount of regular withdrawals and choose how often they are taken, within certain minimum and maximum levels.

Charges and restrictions may apply and any withdrawals taken will reduce the value of your plan.
  • Tax benefits of the Flexible Investment PlanIf you pay tax this plan has a valuable built-in tax benefit. This allows you to take out up to 5% of your investment each year from your plan for up to 20 years free from any immediate tax liability. There may however be an additional tax liability when you cash in your plan.Read more about investments and taxation.

This is based on our current understanding as at November 2011 of current tax legislation and HM Revenue & Customs practice, both of which may change without notice. The amount of tax relief actually received will depend on your individual circumstances.

  • Additional benefitsThe Flexible Investment Plan has several additional features to choose from including automatic rebalancing, programmed switching, interest sweep, annual growth reward, loyalty bonus, guaranteed minimum death benefit, inheritance tax planning.Read our key features for more information on these.
