Here's some questions that we asked by customers who have invested in a Prudential Investment Bond. If you still have a question that's not covered or need to make changes, simply contact us via the contact options shown below.
The Prudential Investment Bond is designed to be held if you are saving over the medium to long term so for five to 10 years. It is an investment plan that invests in the Prudential With-Profits Fund and also provides an element of life cover.
The key features document for the Prudential Investment Bond is a good point of reference for further information. Other useful documents are listed below:
You can contribute additional top ups to your plan. If existing premiums are being paid, the minimum top up is £20.00 per month. If no regular premium is currently being paid, the minimum regular top up is £50 per month and the minimum single top up is £300. The maximum overall investment is £500,000.
Please remember that the value of any investment you already have, or any top ups you make to the bond, can go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount you put in.
You can take a payment break or stop regular payments at any time. We’ll continue to add bonuses to your bond. You can restart your regular payments at any time, subject to certain conditions. Please be aware that if you make regular payments and then break or stop these payments, this could restrict the growth potential of your bond. We will continue to take charges for managing the investment.
Your bond will be invested in the With-Profits Fund only. You are unable to switch out of this fund.
You can make partial and regular withdrawals from your plan. The minimum partial withdrawal is £200. The minimum regular withdrawal is £50 per month but will stop if the value of the bond falls below £1000. If you’re not withdrawing the full value, you must leave at least £1000 in the bond.
If you take money out of the With-Profits Fund, we may adjust the value of your plan if the value of the underlying assets is less than the value of your plan including all bonuses. This adjustment is known as a Market Value Reduction (MVR).
It is designed to protect investors who are not taking their money out and its application means that you get a return based on the earnings of the With-Profits Fund over the period your payments have been invested. For more information on MVR, please see the Market Value Reduction - a clear explanation guide.
The key features document will give you more information on the charges associated with your bond.
You can cash in your plan whenever you like, but please remember that it is designed to be a medium to long term investment, so for five to 10 years. You may incur an Early Cash-In charge and a Withdrawal charge when you cash in. A Market Value Reduction may be applied when you cash-in your bond.
