Head of research appointed at Prudential Portfolio Management Group Ltd.

The Prudential Portfolio Management Group Limited (PPMG) has appointed David Shairp1 to its senior team in a newly created role as head of research.
With 30 years of experience in fund management and investment banking, David will be responsible for managing and developing Prudential’s research and asset allocation process.
He joins a team of over 50 economists, investment strategists, analysts and mathematicians at PPMG, an asset management business that controls over £155.2 billion of Prudential's investments2.
Commenting on the appointment, Al Denholm, chief executive of PPMG, said: “At PPMG, one of our core beliefs is that robust research and insight helps to inform great investment decisions, ultimately adding value to our portfolios by identifying the key opportunities and risks over the course of a business cycle.

PPMG is the ‘manager of managers’ for the Prudential Group in the UK and is responsible for managing Prudential UK’s fund ranges, including its With-Profits Fund which, at £76.7 billion3, is one of the largest in the UK.

David has over 30 years’ experience in fund management and investment banking. David joined Prudential from J.P.Morgan Asset Management, based in London, where most recently he was managing director, global strategist and portfolio manager. His previous roles include head of regional research, regional strategist and chief economist in Asia. David holds an MSc in Management from the London Business School, on the Sloan Fellowship programme, and a B.A. in Economics from Exeter University.
